Sometimes, the cow wants to feed the calf more than the calf wants to be fed. An example is an internal infra team, coming to "customer teams", pushing a solution for something they don't need. Because the customer teams don't "pay for it", they might even say: OK, let's do a pilot. This will generally not happen in capitalism in the long term, b/c the cow will run out of money if not made whole on their efforts. But if there's [[Goal Displacement]] either in a large organization ([[In the Limit]]: a government) this might happen. So whenever you see a reluctant (and non-paying) consumer, you might be seeing a calf being force-fed. This might be OK in the short run (e.g. proof of concept stage where the cow has higher belief in feasibility), but in the long run cow and calf situation is usually value destructive. #published 2025-01-18
