When you're trying to create change in an organization, even if what you're trying to do is 100% rational and optimal™️, it will not be easy.
This is due to a variety of factors.
First, whatever you're trying to do is probably more complex to grasp than you think it is, because you thought about it for a while and are suffering from [[Curse of knowledge]]. So you have to overcompensate [[Show your work]] for people to get there together with you.
Second, rational or not, people's System 1 is more suspicious about new ideas. It's far better to use [[Mere Exposure Effect]] so that by the time the decision making is reached, people have already heard about it a bunch of times. This is what people mean by "socialize the idea".
Third, it's your idea! All else being the same, people feel much better about the ideas they've contributed to, due to [[IKEA Effect]]. Use of [[Strategic Blank Space]] is helpful. Framed in the dark arts way: "make them think it's their idea".
All of this boils down to the very sage advice of "bring people along". Show them your journey of you getting convinced that this is a good idea. Ideally take the whole journey with them, not just performatively, but for real.
